Former Meru governor Peter Munya has dumped NASA’s Raila Odinga for incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the October presidential election.
Munya on Tuesday amazed many after attending a meeting with President Kenyatta barely a week after pledging support for the opposition.
Through an official letter with PNU letterhead, Munya revealed that he had made a decision to back Mr Kenyatta’s re-election after consultations with elders and PNU stakeholders.
“After thorough consultations with party members, elders and supporters across the country, it has been agreed that in the very best interest of the country, we support the reelection of his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming presidential election,” the letter read in part.
Some Kenyans on social media dismissed the letter, terming it mere rumours.
Peter Munya is in NASA to stay. Some online puppets spreading rumors that he has ditched NASA. Get warned!

In a quick turn of events that could spell doom for the opposition’s campaigns in Meru region, the former Council of Governors chair confirmed his allegiance to the Jubilee side in a State House meeting earlier on Tuesday.
The political tide proves to be a unique one with 35 days pending before the country votes in the next head of state.
Recently, a then recognised as sixth NASA principle –Isaac Ruto shifted base to the Jubilee party. The former Bomet governor stated that he had now returned home (to Jubilee Party).
