The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is in yet another trouble for failing to pay advertising dues for the 2013 general elections.
Transcend Media, a communications agency, has sued the poll body for failing to pay Sh150 million in advertising during the 2013 elections.
The media company further wants the commission’s CEO, Ezra Chiloba jailed for a period of six months for contempt of court.
“In default of the said payment, IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba or the person for the time being occupying the office of CEO do show cause why he should not be fined or committed to civil jail for a period of six (6)months,” court documents read in part.
The CEO is said to have openly defied a court order that awarded the company payment for their services.
In 2014, Transcend filed a petition seeking payment of Sh198 million for services rendered.
