Baringo Senator Gideon Moi’s prominent appearance in photos of foreign dignitaries ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration has elicited a sharp debate on his place in the 2022 succession politics.
Moi, a son to retired president Daniel Moi accompanied foreign affairs minister Amina Mohamed as she received Uganda President Yoweri Museveni.
He was pictured with South Sudan’s Salva Kiir and ex-Tanzania president Jakaya Kikwete.
Kenyans on Twitter have put this at the centre of discussion with some linking the latest senior appearances of the Baringo Senator to 2022 state house race.
Gideon Moi had before the August poll expressed interest in the country’s top job after Uhuru Kenyatta’s reign.
Worthy to note is the imminent battle of control in the Rift Valley vote basket between the Senator and self-proclaimed hustler William Ruto who at a very strategic angle has announced his bid for presidency in 2022.
William Ruto, who is now starting his second term as Deputy President under Uhuru Kenyatta has been instrumental in mobilising support for the sitting president across the country.
Could it be an early political alignment for Gideon Moi?
Kenyans on Twitter have this to say:
I am the only one who noticed Gideon Moi?…Project 2022?!?

Ruto is so certain that he will be the President of Kenya as from 2022. Nature abhors a vacuum. The same nature can do to him the unexpected. From a very critical angle, looks like we have his replacement if things fall apart. Pole William, Moi is watching. pic.twitter.com/YVeeWPqhAV
