Kenyans continue to react to the alleged Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) summon of NTV’s Larry Madowo.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) summoned the prominent journalist on Tuesday to record a statement over an interview he featured economist and NASA strategist David Ndii on live TV few weeks ago.

In a letter addressed to the CEO of Nation Media Group, DCI wants Madowo to assist the department in investigations into the probe pitting Dr Ndii over alleged inflammatory remarks he made while on Larry Madowo’s Sidebar show.

“This case is investigating a case of incitement to violence contrary to section 96 (a) (b) and (c) of the Penal Code and subversive activities contrary to section 77(1) of the penal code,” the letter read.

It added: “To facilitate our investigations please avail the news anchor (Larry Madowo), the interviewer in the above matter to come assist on the investigation and henceforth record a statement.”

But Nation Media Group has rubbished the DCI call. The media house said neither Madowo nor NTV would honour the request.

This topic attracted comments from thousands of Kenyans online and most striking to us is the obvious error in the date of the viral letter from the DCI. It is dated 5th December, 2016.

Our Social Hawk picked the following reactions from users online in regards to Larry Madowo’s new drama. Some users conveyed that this letter was a hoax while others poked holes into the seriousness of the DCI.

Others sarcastically asked Madowo about his defense.
