Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed his pain after learning about the demise of Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze.

Hours after the Kitui MP passed on, Kalonzo who is currently in Germany published his tribute stating that the residents of Kitui and the country had lost a great leader in Nyenze’s departure.

“It is with great shock and sadness that I have learnt of the demise of Hon. Francis Mwanzia Nyenze,” he wrote.

The Wiper leader regretted that his party in particular, had lost a candid politician who stood firm for his convictions.

He said; “Hon. Nyenze was an outspoken and candid politician who never shied away from articulating his political convictions.”

Kalonzo explained that as a Leader of Minority in the 11th Parliament, the late Nyenze served the country with great commitment and dedication.

“His non-confrontational, gentlemanly mien was a great asset in helping to build bridges among political protagonists,” Kalonzo continued.

He acknowledged that he had personally been dealt “a big blow” since Nyenze was equally a “great family friend.”

“At this most trying time for Hon. Nyenze’s family and relatives, friends, the Wiper fraternity and the entire nation, I offer my heartfelt condolences to all those who were in one way or another touched by his life,” Kalonzo grieved.

Kitui senator Enock Wambua said the late Nyenze was an accommodative leader.

Francis Nyenze died at the age of 60 on Wednesday 6 December while receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital.

Nyenze will be remembered to have been an ardent supporter of Kalonzo Musyoka. He publicly rubbished Raila Odinga’s candidature months to the August general election.

To him, Kalonzo was the best suited to carry the NASA flag against Uhuru Kenyatta. His stand met odd reception from other NASA leaders who felt Nyenze was a Jubilee mole in NASA.

He later supported Jubilee’s presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta. While addressing a gathering at Kauwi grounds in his constituency Nyenze openly praised President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration for delivering his development promise to citizens across the country.
