ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula.

Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya has moved to court to challenge Opposition’s nominees for the East African Legislative Assembly.

The Party’s Assistant Secretary General Yasser Ali Sheikh claims the list of nominees forwarded to the National Assembly for approval by NASA is not the credible version that was agreed on by Opposition allied parties.

Sheikh laments that none of the nominees was drawn from the party and that lack of inclusion of MPs from the Coast region rules out the NASA list as an eligible one.

He further protests the removal of his name from the list of nominees faulting the NASA leadership for failing to take into consideration the inclusion of a member from Ford Kenya as constituent party in the coalition.

“The list was arrived at without consulting or involving Ford-K an equal coalition partner and constituent party in the final decision making process,” the court submission read.

Sheikh now wants the Opposition compelled to produce original written minutes that bear the decision to nominate candidates to EALA.

He also sought is an order stopping the National Assembly from recognising any names forwarded by NASA as nominees to the regional assembly.

NASA has nominated relatives to its leaders and influential figures in its political escapades. Raila’s brother Oburu Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy, coalition’s CEO Norman Magaya, Fatuma Ibrahim, Winfred Mutua among others have been nominated by NASA to EALA posts.
