The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Wednesday suffered blow in its quest to establish the People’s Assembly after Nairobi County Assembly rejected the bid.
The Nairobi County Assembly leadership rejected people’s assembly motion tabled before the house a move that threatens the success of the countrywide push by the Opposition to install the People’s Assembly.
The House Business Committee in the Capital’s Assembly argued that the motion is illegal.
County Speaker, Beatrice Elachi and vice chair Abdi Guyo declined to give the motion a go ahead citing temporary orders by a Kitui High court that halted any debate on the issue.
Mombasa County’s became the twelfth assembly out of the 47 County assemblies to endorse the motion on Wednesday.
Others are; Busia, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kilifi, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Makueni, Migori, Siaya and Vihiga.
