Kericho police have launched inquest into an incident where a 38 year old man was clawed to death by blood thirsty dogs after he strayed to a private compound in Baraka estate at the outskirts of the town.

The owner of the dogs had reportedly freed them at 11PM before they bumped into the uninvited guest around midnight.

At this point, the mutts lurched at him mulling him to death, police said. The deceased is said to have been tipsy when he met his adversaries.

Witnesses who spoke to The Standard said the dogs disemboweled and bit open the victim’s head during the attack. Besides, they yanked off the victim’s manhood.

“We have opened an inquest into the death and to determine whether the dogs had been vaccinated and the owner has necessary documents from the veterinary department,” Kericho East Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Justus Kitetu said.

Police said the dog owner did not hear any commotion during the deadly attack; but was shocked to meet the bloody body of the middle aged man in his compound in the morning.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kericho District Hospital Mortuary as police continue with the investigation.
