Majority Leader Aden Duale is set to make a major revelation on the sale of contraband sugar in the country, this publication has learnt.
Duale has reportedly tabled before a parliamentary committee a list of people he claimed have been importing sugar which is unfit for human consumption. Names of all key players in the dirty sugar business will be made known on Tuesday, June 26.
The vocal Jubilee legislator stated about a week ago he was going to unleash the secret sugar dealings and their perpetrators after contaminated sugar was nabbed in Ruiru, Kiambu by a multi-agency agency fighting counterfeit products in the local market.
Speaking during an interview last Wednesday, Duale named several companies which are allegedly involved in the illicit business of smuggling sugar into the country.
“I want to tell Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to go for the real bulldogs in this war. I have named warehouses in Nakuru where millions of bags of sugar are hidden, others in Ndhiwa, Mombasa among other places. Why are they not acting on those areas?” Duale posed.
The vocal Garissa Town MP said he is ready to lose his position as Majority Leader over his stand on the issue of the crackdown on sugar smugglers.
